Our annual Southern Regional Conference will be April 1 and 2 in lovely Asheville, NC. Friday April 1st starting at 3 pm will be a presentation on Resegration, including speakers on the School to Prison Pipeline and other racial disparity issues. Speakers include Dr. Katherine Kim of UNC Chapel Hill, Prof. Keith Howard of Advocates for Children’s Services and Dr. Jenkins-Mullen and Dr. Mullen of UNC Asheville. Materials will be provided to apply for CLE credit in NC. (May count in other states as well.) Saturday will be a day of great panels on diverse topics, such as Frank Goldsmith’s presentation on his representation of Gitmo detainees and Marty Rosenbluth educating us on Secure Communities. Saturday will end with a regional business meeting that will include election of a new southern RVP. If you are interested in the position and would like more information, please email (firstname.lastname@example.org). This will be an excellent opportunity to socialize with kindred spirits and learn, of course.
Please visit here to register. We are trying to get an idea of the number of participants, so we can plan activities appropriately.
Also, come up to Asheville one night early and attend the annual Freedom Ball at the Grey Eagle. A fundraiser for a death row exoneree.
Please distribute widely to your local and law school chapters and anyone else who may be interested in attending.
